Anyone who knows me is aware that I’m a bonafide cat lady, but contrary to popular belief, I like to dogs, too! Enter Sugar Bear, my boyfriend’s family dog. Don’t judge her by her size or breed, she considers herself a lap dog and is not afraid to steal your spot on the couch. While Sugar and I have had our conflicts in the past (aka eating my sandals for a midnight snack, eating my dinner before I could, etc.) we’ve clearly put aside our differences since she’s making her official blogging debut!
On the first warm day of the season, the boyfriend and I headed out to a dog-friendly park in his hometown for an afternoon stroll with Sugar. I recently picked up these New Balance sneakers from Urban Outfitters in an attempt to pull off the athleisure look (How’d I do?). In all honesty, I used to think sneakers like New Balance and Reebok were for squares, but with all the exclusive fun colors and styles out now, it was too hard not to pick up a pair!
These sneaks have filled the casual void in my closet. Pairing them with a dress took a little trial-and-error, but once I nailed the right color scheme and silhouette, it was the perfect get-up for a lazy afternoon walk in the park. If you’re thinking of trying out a new pair of kicks, definitely consider color and when you’ll wear them most. I went conservative with the navy so they’d go with more looks, but I’m already scheming to pick up a statement pair for the summer!
Have you tested out the athleisure trend? What’s your favorite sneaker brand?
