Two of my favorite articles of clothing that quickly became staples in my wardrobe this year are the oh-so-wonderful maxi skirt and dress. They’re chic, they’re comfortable, and they can make you look taller–who can complain about that?! However, I ran into an upsetting situation on a 95 degree day in Philly while out and about running errands for my internship. Turns out maxis aren’t too comfortable when the heat index is 100+. Bummer.
But fear not my friends because the geniuses out in fashion land have created a solution. May I introduce to you, the maxi’s cousin, the asymmetrical hem. Give your legs some breathing room with one of these babies! They come in all different lengths and silhouettes, so you can be as dramatic or subtle as you’d like and still get the effect of a long hemline. (My favorite is the tail hem–short in the front and long in the back.) Another bonus? You can show off your adorable platform wedges to the world since they can no longer hide behind a floor length hem. Brilliant!
