Happy Thursday! Can you believe it’s March already? Winter sure does fly when you’re not buried under infinite inches of snow (insert raise the roof emoji). If you follow me on Snapchat (styletab) you may have noticed that I made a quick winter getaway to Miami last weekend. The few days of sunshine and warm air is just what I needed, even though I had a pretty terrible cold the whole time! The phenomenal food made up for the fact that I spent most of my vacation funds at Walgreens buying tissues and Tylenol. I’ll be posting more about my trip next week, but today I wanna talk skincare!
Having the privilege to bare some skin in February made me realize that I have been seriously slacking on my winter skincare routine. (Here are a few tips I shared about back in the fall.) Not only was my skin lacking in moisture, it just had an overall dullness to it. Being in a bikini surrounded by beautiful people with glowing skin was the wakeup call I needed to get back on track before sundress season hits. I needed to not only start consistently using my go-to skincare products, but also make better, healthier meal choices.
Breakfast and it’s cousin brunch, are by far my favorite meals to eat. Obviously, brunch is typically reserved for weekend indulgences, but during the week I love starting my day with a refreshing smoothie or a hot bowl of oatmeal during the winter. Not only does it help me warm up, but oatmeal also has tons of health benefits and contains nutrients that give me the energy I need to power through the day. I know that sounds cheesy, but there’s nothing I hate more than eating a weak breakfast and feeling absolutely famished an hour later. There’s no way anyone can get through an hour long Instagram binge work or school feeling hungry all day long. I recently got to try out the morning radiance bowl from OatMeals – the first oatmeal bar in NYC. If you live in the area you have to check this place out. Their oatmeal bowls are SO. GOOD. It was the perfect amount I needed to kickstart my day and I felt good knowing I was making a healthy breakfast choice.
Speaking of oatmeal, it’s not just for eating. I recently partnered up with St. Ives to test our their Nourish & Sooth Oatmeal & Shea Butter body lotion and their new Oatmeal Body Scrub. I started using these products as soon as I got back from my trip and my skin immediately felt rejuvenated. The body scrub is made with 100% natural exfoliants including walnut shell, silica, oatmeal, honey and glycerin which has helped smooth away my skin’s dullness. The body lotion is also filled with natural ingredients and moisturizers such as shea butter and glycerin. Together, this pair is just what I needed to bring back my skin’s radiance and back on my winter skincare routine. Oh, and both products are paraben free. High-five! (Sorry, I just watched Borat the other night.)
I have sensitive skin, but I’ve been using the scrub almost everyday. The exfoliants are very fine so it’s gentle enough to use up to 3-4 days a week! As for the lotion, I slather it on after a shower or before bed for an extra dose of moisture. Both products smell absolutely amazing, which I wasn’t surprised by because I’m a big fan and user of St. Ives. Now all I have to do is remember to stay hydrated everyday and I think I’ll be well on my way to more radiant skin by spring!
What are your go-to tips for sticking to a winter skincare routine? Have you ever tried out these St. Ives products?
