It may be August, but my summer has just very recently kicked off. The opening ceremony? My cousin’s b-e-autiful wedding in my home state of Delaware. He got married at the beach, so my family decided to make a vacation out of it. We spent a week at our beach house (which I hadn’t been to in 2 years!) the week leading up to the wedding. Next week I’m making a quick trip to Finland (I’ll explain later) and then back to Delaware for a close friend’s bachelorette party,
To say I’m overwelmed is an undstatement, but I love having trips to look forward to. The one thing I don’t love though, is packing. I thought by the age of 25 I would’ve figured out how to pack the proper amount of items for any length of trip, but somehow I still manage to pack roughly 85 outfits anywhere I go. I think it’s just the fact that I need to have options. Yes, my blue booties would look great with my dark skinnies, but so do my pink pumps! The last flight I took my suitcase weighed in at 49 lbs, so I guess you can call me a good packer in that sense.
When flying I personally love taking advantage of the two personal carry on items. I’m not a fan of rolling carry ons for the fear of not having the strength to hoist that thing over my head into the overhead bin. The chances of me dropping it on someone are just too high. With my luck, that person would be a small child or an angry business person who could probably sue me. Instead, I like to take a backpack for my laptop and a soft weekender bag for everything else that didn’t fit in my suitcase. This LeSportsac bag is perfect for the latter. I aboslutely love the collaboration they did with Rifle Paper Co. to produce this adorable floral print. It’s incredibly spacious and has four convenient zippered pockets for easy access to your wallet, phone, passport, etc.
When I’m traveling I like to be as comfortable and put together as possible. The elements of my summer travel style usually consist of light layers, shorts or a flattering dress. My footwear is always flats or sandals so I can easily kick them off to go through security. For accessories, it really just depends on my mood, but the pieces I typically gravitate towards are simple but still make a statement. Long story short: I travel in comfort and practicality with a trendy touch.
What’s your summer travel style?
P.S. For all of you Bostonians out there, LeSportsac currently has a pop-up storefront space in Faneuil Hall right across from Mija! If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely stop in, it’s really cute inside!
