To Be Bright | Alicia Tenise | Classy South Blog
For our fourth and final (sad face) Style Scenario installment, the blog squad wanted to tackle one of the trickier scenarios of the season: fall weddings. The dress code for those things is almost has difficult to decipher as business casual. You’ve got a lot of elements that could work against you from rain to outdoor venues to rapid temperature drops. I haven’t been fortunate to attend a fall wedding yet, but it’s important to take all of those things into consideration when choosing an outfit for the big day. Would I wear this silk dress to a barn wedding? Probably not, but I would wear it to nuptials that were a more typical setting such as a country club or an estate. The weather in the Northeast is so unpredictable sometimes so a light and airy dress in a fall shade like this one is perfect for this time of year. You can easily throw on a pashmina or a chic rain jacket if the weather isn’t ideal.
As far as accessories go, I usually pick one statement piece and complement it with other more refined pieces. In this case my earrings are on the bolder side, and the triple chevron necklace pairs perfectly with the v neckline of my dress. I threw on a simple, monogrammed ring and sleek bangles to go along with the leopard handle clutch (also know as my favorite bag, ever). As far as shoes are concerned, I most likely would not wear these platform sandals to that barn wedding, but I loved how the patent sheen paired with the silk dress. I obvi went for a jewel tone color palette, which is great for the fall season, but you can also test the waters in pastels or a fun print, too! At the end of the day, weddings are the perfect scenario to step out of your comfort zone and get dressed up for once. So put that LBD back in your closet and try something new!
