A look that once was only suitable on the red carpet or at glamourous events, high and double slits have made their debut into the main stream of fashion land. Angelina Jolie seemed to set everyone off with her super saucy dress she wore to this year’s Oscars and every since I’ve seen sliced up, high cut maxi’s everywhere. These looks have also made their mark on the runway the past few seasons as
well in a variety of options. From super glam to casual you can really have a lot of fun with slits.

As you can obviously see, double slits look best in flowy, long fabrics that move when you move. (Cat walk strut, anyone?) Definitely stay away from skirts or dresses that are form fitting and hit at the knee or above, because that just gets really tacky. I found some awesome flowy skirts at Urban Outfitters and Lulus.com that you can definitely dress up or down. Also, check out these darker options at ASOS and Nasty Gal, too. When choosing a skirt or dress with slits, be sure to take into account the type of fabric its made of and the height of the slit to determine whether you wanna go low key or high sex appeal!
I recently had my sorority formal and decided to go all out since it was my last one ever (sniffle, sniffle). Naturally, my first thought was a floor length dress and then I found this Silence & Noise beauty at Urban Outfitters while perusing with my mom one day. This might be the coolest dress I’ve ever worn. The slits are definitely what made me fall in love with it and made it pretty convenient for getting down on the dance floor! I wore black pumps to formal but in these pics I’m wearing my Nikki sandals courtesy of Bakers Shoes! They are the epitome of the perfect summer heels and I’m so glad the weather is starting to cooperate so I can put them to good use!
