This summer I experimented a lot with bold lip colors and quickly became
addicted to them. But now that fall is officially upon us, I’ve been looking for a way to mix up how I wear my bold lip look. The answer? Matte lipstick. Designers like Thakoon and Derek Lam sent models down their fall 2012 runways with bold lips sans shine, and celebrities such as Blake Lively and Rihanna have been seen sporting a matte pout. My favorite picks for the perfect matte include NARS, Revlon and NYX cosmetics because they’re reasonably priced and have moisturizing formulas. If you’re not ready to go out and buy a new shade, you can use your current lipstick of choice. Simply apply your shade, dust some translucent face powder onto a tissue and blot. Easy peasy! I also recommend coating your lips with a bit of lip balm before applying your matte shade so you’re lips don’t dry out.
