Happy Monday! Today I wanted to share a fun shoot I recently did for Gold West Vintage. If you haven’t heard of the brand, they buy and sell beautiful vintage jewelry. Having worked at a vintage boutique in college, my love and appreciation for vintage has always been at an all time high. So, when I was asked to help with this shoot, I couldn’t resist. Browsing the many pieces that Gold West Vintage has to offer was like going back in time. I’ve always loved vintage items because every piece has a story to tell. And even if it doesn’t, you probably have a story of how acquired the piece.
To the average shopper, vintage pieces can seem difficult to add into your everyday wardrobe. Why go out of your way to look for a sapphire ring or 24k gold necklace, when you can stop into your local J.Crew and pick up something just as sparkly? I totally get it and I too, usually opt for that J.Crew purchase. At this point in my life, I don’t think I deserve rare pieces of jewelry (or can even afford them for that matter). But, I know when the time comes and I find that perfect piece I’ll be ready to purchase. And perhaps that piece will become a part of my personal style history or maybe even an heirloom, too. That’s the beauty of vintage jewelry: it’s old, it’s beautiful and it’s made to be passed on from generation to generation.
How do you feel about buying vintage clothing or jewelry? Do you have any special pieces that have been passed down from family members?
