Happy Monday! I don’t know about you guys, but this consistent cold weather has gravitating toward sweatpants over and over again. Thankfully, we live in a world where you can now get away with wearing “joggers” outside the confides of your living room. I picked up this forest pair from Marshalls a few weeks ago and I can’t stop wearing them. The slightly tailored silhouette paired with the quilted stitching and zippers give these comfy pants an extra bit of edge (which you need when you’re gonna wear sweatpants as pants in public).
Hopefully, you don’t think I’m crazy for telling you that it’s OK to wear tailored sweatpants in public. If you’re in the market for a new pair, or not sure how to go about finding the right style here are a few tips I consider before making a purchase:
– Fit: Keep the oversized sweats for your couch potato days. For joggers you want to where out and about, make sure they flatter your figure and have a tailored element, such as a tapered leg or button closure.
– Fabric: Go with a pair that has a silk hand, fun print or unexpected element, like quilting.
– Details: It’s all in the details! Zippered elements or colorblocking done the side of the pant leg always looks sleek
– Complementary pieces: Pairing your fancy sweatpants with structured pieces like a blazer or pointed shoes will off set the casual feel of the pants. Don’t forget some sparkly accessories, too!
How do you feel about wearing “sweatpants” in public? Have you tried out this trend?
